If you are new to retinoids, we recommend trying Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion or Retinol 0.2% in Squalane first and progressing to higher concentrations as your skin develops tolerance. Retinal (also called retinaldehyde) is a retinoid that allows for better delivery of the most direct form of vitamin A molecules compared to retinol, as it is closer to the bioactive form of vitamin A. With a high concentration of 0.2% retinal, THE ORDINARY Retinal 0.2% Emulsion Serum noticeably improves skin firmness and reduces lines and wrinkles, including crow's feet, frown lines, and forehead wrinkles. Retinal 0.2% Emulsion also contains synthetic oat analogues, notably avenanthramide, a key beneficial component found in oats. This ingredient helps combat the discomfort and dryness of the skin often associated with retinoid use. The bright yellow hue of THE ORDINARY Retinal 0.2% Emulsion Serum comes from the high concentration of retinal, which is yellow in nature. This may leave some residual color on the skin and light-colored fabrics, which can be minimized by allowing the product to fully absorb and the skin to dry before applying it to light-colored fabrics.
