THE ORDINARY SALICYLIC ACID 2%: Salicylic acid exfoliates the skin. This 2% treatment solution helps exfoliate the inner walls of pores to combat the appearance of dark spots and for improved skin clarity with continued use.
Contraindications: This formula should not be used on sensitive skin.
Use AM and PM. Apply a small amount directly to visible dark spots to be treated or apply a small amount all over the face for visible radiance with continued use. Avoid the eye area and contact with eyes. Do not rinse. Continue with the rest of your skincare routine, according to your skin's needs. If irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a doctor. Use only on resistant skin. Before use, a patch test is recommended. See below for detailed patch test instructions. Keep out of reach of children.
(Sunburn alert: This product contains a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) which may increase skin sensitivity to the sun, and in particular, the possibility of sunburn. Use sunscreen, wear clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for one week after discontinuing use.)
How to perform a patch test of the product at home: A patch test is an easy way to help determine if the product will cause a negative reaction. It is recommended to perform a patch test before incorporating a new product into your routine. We have developed a general method for performing your own patch test at home.
- Apply a small amount of the product to a clean area of skin, in this case, the upper forearm.
- Keep the area dry, preferably covered with a bandage.
- After 24 hours, uncover the area and rinse.
- If you notice redness, burning, itching, blisters, or irritation at any time during the test, do not use the product.
Please note that the patch test is for determining irritation reactions to the products and does not guarantee similar results when applied to other areas of the body (including the face) or after continued use. It should not be used for the diagnosis of hypersensitivity or contact dermatitis. If you are concerned about starting a new product, consult a dermatologist before use.
